A Message from BJ...
As most of you already know, I married Gene Johnson on July 12, 2013. I am very happy to be married to such a wonderful man. I have waited a long time to find my perfect man and Gene is truly my "soulmate". We were married at my son's home in Atlanta with my family present and enjoyed our first weeks together as man and wife on the beaches of Florida's east coast. We arrived home on Sunday July 28th and I want to introduce Gene to all of my friends here at Aripeka West.
On Thursday August at 6PM we are having a Meet & Greet Celebration! You can all meet Gene and enjoy a Pot Luck Dinner and entertainment.
Henry will has graciously offered to play his Saxophone and entertain us following dinner. Henry is our guest in the RV Park and will be staying with us for a week or so.

Thursday August 1st at 6PM we will have a Pot Luck Dinner to celebrate the marriage of Mr. & Mrs. Gene Johnson, (AKA Gene & BJ). Please bring a dish, (a casserole or crock pot dish would be great) and let's wish BJ & Gene a very long and happy marriage! Entertainment by Henry after dinner.
Summer Clean Up...
We are working to clean up Aripeka West. You can do your part by stepping outside your home and taking an objective look. Remember this is what others see when they pass by your home, does it make the impression that you want to project? Is there some improvement needed? Let's all work together to make Aripeka West look great.
Remember that only things designed to be outdoors may be placed in your yard or on your carport, patio or screen room.
Anything placed in your yard must be moved to facilitate mowing, this includes vehicles, lawn furniture, grills and other objects.
Please keep your MH's and RV's clean, if you need help with washing or cleaning the outside of your MH or RV, we can probably find someone to do this for you at a reasonable price.
If you have planted a garden, please make sure to keep it weeded and looking pretty.
All vehicles in the Park must be operable and all tires must be inflated.
Please welcome...
Brian La Flam is new to Aripeka West this year, he is in the RV Park in Lot #14.
Steve Woodside, he has returned to Aripeka West for the 3rd year in a row. He is in the RV Park in Lot #28.
Robert Berry & Marcia Dodson are moving into the MH Park. They are currently working to clean and repair their recently purchased MH located on Lot #61.
Oh So Hot...
Seems like it is just getting hotter and hotter this summer. We have had a lot of rain too, over 20 inches in just July. Your A/C is working hard to keep you cool, but at the same time causing your costs for electricity to rise substantially. Here are a few ways to help you control your energy costs.
1. An air conditioner set at 70 degrees can cost twice as much to operate as one set at 78 degrees. Raise the thermostat by 2 degrees above its normal setting. You’ll still be comfortable, and your pocketbook will thank you.
2. Set the thermostat to 80 degrees when you’ll be out of the house for several hours and lower it when you return. But don’t shut the air conditioner off; it’s less efficient to cool the house back down than to leave it set at a higher temperature.
3. A ceiling fan uses about as much energy as a 100-watt bulb, but it can make a room feel up to eight degrees cooler. In summer, blades should turn counterclockwise, pushing air downward to create a cool breeze.
4. Keeping windows closed and curtains drawn during the day can reduce cooling costs by 30%.
5. Lights, computers, and televisions all generate heat. Turn them off when they’re not in use.
6. Clean or replace the air filter monthly. Clogged, dirty filters block air flow and make a unit work much harder. A clean filter can save up to 10% on your bill.

Smoke Test...
We are planning a "Smoke Test" for our sewer system in the next few weeks. Some of you will remember when we did this test last year, but for our "newbies", you may notice what looks like smoke coming from your toilet or your sewage connection, there is no cause for alarm, the smoke is not "real smoke" and there is no "fire" associated with this "smoke". This "smoke" may also rise from spots in your yard where sewage pipes are located, again there is no cause for alarm. You will receive a notice placed on your door explaining the Smoke Test and what date it will be performed several days prior to the test.
RV Park Water Upgrade...
While the water was turned off to Aripeka West on July 30th, we took the opportunity to install shut-off valves at each lot in the RV Park and to move water connections that were place close to electrical connections or too close to the ground. This will make it easy to repair a broken water pipe in the RV Park without disrupting water service to all of Aripeka West. This will keep water interruptions to a minimum in the future.
Thanks to everyone for their cooperation with the Water Shutdown by Pasco County, we know this was a hardship on our residents, but we sometimes have suffer a little to keep the infrastructure repaired and up to date.
Your Guests...
Please remember that you are responsible for your guests and their behavior. While we welcome your guests, if you plan to have more than one non-registered vehicle on your lot at one time, please advise us in the office. It is for your safety as well as the safety of other residents that we know when non-residents are in the park and whom they are visiting. We have recently notices some problems with Guests of park residents that need to be addressed.
Speeding, your guests MUST obey the 10 MPH Speed Limit in the Park.
Parking, your guests must park on your lot, not vacant lots or lots belong to other residents.
Trespassing, your guest must not go onto the property of other residents without the permission of the other resident.
Lately there have been lots of unusual comings and goings by people that neither live in the park or know whom they are here to visit when stopped and asked. This park and the roads in this park are Private Property, your guests must enter the park through the front gate. They are not to enter through the woods or through the back gate. Anyone entering Aripeka West other than through the front gate will be suspect and may put themselves in the position of explaining their trespassing to the Sheriff's Department, so please advise your friends.
Fun Facts...
A typical American eats 28 pigs in his/her lifetime. Can you say "Oink"?
An etiquette writer of the 1840's advised, "Ladies may wipe their lips on the tablecloth, but not blow their noses on it." Really????
Capsaicin, which makes hot peppers "hot" to the human mouth, is best neutralized by casein, the main protein found in milk. Capsaicin also aids in calming joint pain, so make those peppers HOT!
Chocolate contains phenyl ethylamine (PEA), a natural substance that is reputed to stimulate the same reaction in the body as falling in love. Now I know why Chocolate is so good!
Hostess Twinkies were invented in 1931 by James Dewar, manager of Continental Bakeries' Chicago factory. He envisioned the product as a way of using the company's thousands of shortcake pans which were otherwise employed only during the strawberry season. Originally called Little Shortcake Fingers, they were renamed Twinkie Fingers, and finally "Twinkies." And now after a very months missing from the store shelf they are back! Did you miss them when they were gone?
Happy Birthday...
