The Sunset June 2013

A Message from BJ...

Summer is a great time to enjoy the water here on the Gulf Coast of Florida.  To keep cool, try paddling down the Weeki Wachee River in a kayak or canoe or taking a swim at one of our local beaches.  The ice cream truck has been coming by most days offering another great way to cool off in the summer heat!
Our front entry has a new look, now there is finally a place for all our plants to show off their beautiful blooms! I has taken some time, but it is now done.  We will also be putting planters on both sides by the entrance in the near future.

Let's Grill Out...

Are you ready for a Cook-Out?  On Monday June 3rd 6PM at the Pavilion in the RV Park we will have the grills fired up and ready to grill what you bring.  Bring your steaks or chops and we will enjoy the evening eating and chatting with friends.  The Park will supply a few side dishes to complete the meal.  While it is obvious that we CAN cook most any meat on the grill, there is only so much cooking space, so please bring meats that cook quickly and if they require a special pan to cook them, bring that along too.  Hope to see you there!

"Dumping" Large Items...

Our dumpster is for Household Trash only.  Please take larger items such as furniture & TV's to the Pasco County Dump.  If you cannot transport larger item to the dump yourself, please let us know and we will find someone to remove the items for a small fee.  Do not place any large item in or around the dumpster.  Additionally, lumber and other building materials, carpet and padding, paint and broken yard tools may not be placed in or around the dumpster.

Time to Mow...

Soon the almost daily summer rains will begin and Aripeka West will be very green, but with the greening up comes lots of maintenance.  We will be mowing, edging and trimming somewhere in the park almost everyday.  Please keep your yard clear of any debris that will impede mowing.  Lawn furniture placed in the grass will need to be moved and children's toys picked up.  Please remove dogs leashes and leads as they cause lots of damage to our mowers if they are accidentally hit.

Our New Website...

We have been working all month to create our new Website.  The basic format is set and we have a few pictures and descriptions and information on the park.  Please visit AripekaWest.com.  Your feedback is welcome!

Bear Sightings...

There have been several recent bear sightings in and nearby Aripeka and while most of us would be thrilled to see one of these big guys, most of us would not like to have them inside the park foraging for food in garbage cans and the dumpster.  Please do not leave garage bags on your lot since bears are attracted to easy food. Feed your dogs and cats inside or if you feed them outside pick up dishes and remaining food right away.  Bears are quick learners and will return to where they find these easy meals over and over.  Florida Black Bears are not generally a danger to humans because they are shy and prefer not to make human contact.

 Fun in the Sun...

Enjoy fishing from the bridges in Aripeka, visiting Pasco County Parks and Beaches, visiting Hernando County Parks and Beaches, seeing the Mermaids, renting Canoes and Kayaks, visiting the Wildlife Survival Sanctuary in Hernando County and just relaxing at the park.
